Phumuza has received a donation of 311 magazines from ZimbabweReads. The magazines are to be distributed to the secondary school that we support at Insiza. The magazines will benefit pupils, parents and their caregivers. Our aim is to help set up libraries in the local schools. We hope the magazines will be embraced by our schools.

The event is being held on Monday 12th March 2012 at 7 pm at the Beccles Baptist Church, Station Road Beccles, NR34 9QJ.
The tickets are £2.50 each and all the proceeds are going to Phumuza which is a charity that helps vulnerable children and adults in Zimbabwe.

Phumuza was founded in 2003 during Suku and Peter Bailey’s visit to Suku’s hometown of Filabusi, Insiza district. Phumuza which translates to ‘ease the burden’ or ‘to share the load’ in English is a Private Voluntary Organization registered in Zimbabwe. Phumuza is based in Bulawayo however concentrates its charitable work in Filabusi in Insiza district.

The Children of Filabusi in Zimbabwe received woollen hats that were kindly knitted and donated by women of the National Women’s Registrar in Beccles, United Kingdom. A number of the hats were donated by the local churches in the local churches in the Beccles area. Please give your support to ‘Phumuza’ so we can give these children access to education, knowledge, skills and opportunities. Education is a vital part of the children’s growth and development to overcome poverty they are growing up in. There is far too many orphans and vulnerable children who still do not have the chance to go to school.

This year (2011) for the first time Phumuza hosted a Christmas party for more than 300 children. 100 of which are orphans and vulnerable children we support. The party hosted by Phumuza was attended by parents, grandparents and carers.

Talk by Suku Bailey at the Salvation Army South Lowestoft

David Mummery and Verena Bassett are supporting two charities, Rukungiri Orphan Partnership and Phumuza Share the Load. David and Verena got married in September 2011 in Beccles, Suffolk, UK. They offered their wedding gifts to be donated to the two charities.

Thank you to the National Women’s Register in Beccles, Suffolk, UK for donating the sum of £160.00 in July 2011, and a sewing machine for the sewing project at Lubuze Secondary School. The uniforms are made at the school by volunteers and sold at an affordable price.
The project aims at cutting the cost of travelling to the city to purchase school uniforms. Profit generated from the sells helps to pay schools [ Read More ]
Children at Vumangwe Primary School receive donations from the UK- March 2011.
Suku Bailey distributes donations of clothing; trainers, shoes, pens and pencils from Phumuza at Vumangwe Primary School, Insiza. The school has more than 300 pupils.
School fees were paid for 100 orphans and vulnerable children which amounted to US$1000.00. The school tution fees and levies are US$10.00 per child per term. US$30.00 could send an orphan to school for the whole year.
